Spearmint is used for its aromatic oil. Pungent, but mild aroma, spearmint is an ingredient in several mixed drinks, such as the mojito and mint julep. Sweet tea, iced are flavoured with spearmint and is a summer tradition in the Southern United States.

Mint is very versatile and can be applied to many beer styles. The best application is typically to cold steep and add after fermentation, but experimenting with the herb on the hot side can yield interesting results as well.
