Heavily Peated Malt is produced by smoking pale malt over burning peat.

Peated Malt will add a dark, earthy aroma and flavour characteristic of Islay whisky making it ideal in aged beers, scotch ales and some stouts. The degree of peatiness (parts per million of phenol) contributed by this malt is high so this malt should be used in limitation, or it may overpower all other aspects of the beer.

Typical Beer Styles: Scotch Ale, Stout, Aged Beers

Recommended Maximum Usage: Up to 1.5%.
