- 1 entry per classic style subcategory (1-26, C1, M1)
- 2 entries per specialty subcategory (21B, 27-34, C2, M2-M4), must be different beers
Entry Limits:
- Total cap of 500 PAID entries
- Per-entrant caps: 2 pp for Sept 7 - 13, then up to 6 pp starting Sept 14

GTA Brews is excited to announce our sixth annual nation-wide homebrew competition for beer, mead, and cider: Brew Slam 2023 (#BrewSlam)!

The competition has been on hiatus since 2019 due to the global pandemic and the club is so excited to finally bring the competition back for 2023! We are so thankful for the entrants and judges that reached out to us the past few years to express their desire to see the competition come back, and we can't wait to return to building on 2019's massive success. That competition saw 819 entries from 281 entrants representing 9/10 provinces, judged by 77 judges over just 3 days, which made it the largest homebrew competition in Canada!

This is a BJCP sanctioned competition and is part of the Canadian Brewer of the Year (BOTY) circuit. The judging will take place at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 10 (1083 Pape Ave) from Oct 27th to 29th. Judging will be performed by BJCP ranked judges and pro brewers using the 2021 BJCP Guidelines.

Entries for Brew Slam will be accepted at the shipping and drop off locations beginning on September 28th, three weeks after the system starts accepting entry registrations on Sept 7th. The entry deadline for all entries to arrive at the shipping and drop off locations is end of business day on Saturday October 21st. Ship early to avoid delays.

Brew Slam has Pro-Ams, "Brewer for a Day", and thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs. If feedback alone isn't enough to convince you to enter our competition, then our list of prizes should be!

We need as many volunteers as possible to make this competition a success. If you are reading this, and are able to be in Toronto Oct 22nd, 27th, 28th, 29th, and/or "TBD Award Ceremony", we need your help. We need judges, stewards, and even bottle sorters.

Toronto has the largest pool of BJCP judges in Canada which allows us to keep flight sizes low and focus on the best quality judging and feedback possible.

We are planning a series of incremental rewards to thank our volunteers for their time, check out the volunteer page for more info.

Come celebrate the winners of the Brew Slam competition! Club members will brew beers especially to be served at this event, and guests will also be able to share their own homebrew with other attendees.

Medals and prizes will be presented to Brew Slam winners. There will also be exclusive door prizes for attendees provided by our sponsors.
