Campden is used in brewing to remove the chlorine/chrloramines typically found in tap water. Whirlfloc is a clarifying agent added to the boiling stage of brewing to help coagulate and precipitate proteins, aiding in the removal of haze and improving the clarity of the finished beer.

Campden tablets are a common ingredient used in home brewing and winemaking to prevent spoilage and bacteria growth during fermentation. They are made of a combination of sulphites, such as potassium or sodium metabisulphite, and are used to sanitize equipment, prevent oxidation, and kill unwanted yeast and bacteria.

Campden tablets are typically added to the must (unfermented juice or wort) before fermentation to kill any naturally occurring yeast and bacteria that could spoil the final product. They are also added to finished wine to prevent spoilage and bacteria growth during storage and aging.

Whirlfloc - A blend of Irish Moss and purified Kappa carrageenan that encourages the precipitation of haze causing materials such as proteins and Beta glucans. Prepared in a quick dissolving, highly soluble tablet form. Almost everyone who tries Whirlfloc tablets prefer them to regular Irish Moss.
Add for the final 5 minutes of the boil.

Note: One Whirlfloc tablet is good for 10-15 gallons of wort. We suggest using half a tablet for 5 gallon batches for most beers.
